Understanding the privacy and performance advantages of client-side processing
Traditional online tools work by sending your files to a server, processing them, and sending results back. This means your PDF documents, images, and sensitive text pass through servers you don't control. Browser-based tools like DocsConverter use the Web APIs built into your browser — the processing happens locally, and nothing is transmitted.
Server-based tools have to manage request queues — during peak times, you wait. Browser-based tools use your device's CPU and GPU directly, so a PDF conversion or image compression that might take 30 seconds on a server completes in 1–2 seconds in your browser, using power you've already paid for.
Once a DocsConverter tool page is loaded, most tools continue to work even if your internet connection drops. This makes them reliable for travel, for remote locations with unstable connections, or for situations where sending data externally isn't appropriate (corporate environments, sensitive documents).
Server-based tools cost money to run — every file processed, every API call, every computation uses server resources that operators pay for. That cost is why most tools charge fees or push paywalls. Browser-based tools use your device's resources, dramatically reducing our operating costs and allowing us to offer everything free.
Common questions about DocsConverter and how the tools work
Are all the tools on DocsConverter really free?
Yes, completely. All 39 tools are free with no usage limits, no account required, and no hidden fees. The platform is supported by Google AdSense display advertising.
Do I need to create an account to use the tools?
No account is required for any tool. Open a tool and start using it immediately. We intentionally removed sign-up as a barrier — your time is more valuable than our user metrics.
Do you upload my files to your server?
No. All file processing happens inside your browser. Whether you're compressing an image, converting a PDF, or generating a document — your files are processed locally using JavaScript and the browser's Web APIs. Nothing is sent to our servers.
What browsers are supported?
DocsConverter works on all modern browsers: Chrome 90+, Firefox 88+, Safari 14+, and Edge 90+. For best performance, we recommend Chrome or Firefox on desktop. All tools are tested on mobile browsers as well.
Can I use the tools on my phone?
Yes. Every tool on DocsConverter uses a mobile-responsive design with appropriately sized tap targets, readable text, and layouts that work on small screens. Some tools with complex UIs work better on desktop, but all tools are functional on mobile.
Are the tools safe to use with sensitive documents?
Yes. Because processing is entirely client-side, your sensitive documents (contracts, tax documents, ID cards) never leave your device. There is no network transmission. However, for extremely sensitive documents, consider whether using any web-based tool is appropriate for your use case.
How is the password generator different from other tools?
Our password generator uses window.crypto.getRandomValues() — the browser's cryptographically secure random number generator. This is the same API used by security-critical applications like password managers. It's fundamentally different from tools that use Math.random(), which is not cryptographically secure.
What is the maximum file size for PDF and image tools?
File size limits are determined by your device's available memory, not by our servers. Most modern devices can comfortably handle PDF files up to 50MB and images up to 20MB. Very large files on devices with limited RAM may be slow.
Do the tools work offline?
Once a tool page has fully loaded in your browser, most tools work without an internet connection. This is because the tool code and libraries are served from your browser cache and all processing is local.
How can I request a new tool?
Send us a message at Nextauratechnologies@gmail.com with a description of the tool you need and what problem it would solve. We review all requests and have built several tools specifically based on user suggestions.
What data does DocsConverter collect?
We use Google Analytics to measure aggregated page views and user counts (not individual user tracking). Google AdSense uses cookies for advertising personalisation. We do not collect names, emails, or file content. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Is DocsConverter open source?
DocsConverter is not currently open source. However, the core functionality of most tools relies on well-known open source libraries including pdfjs-dist (PDF processing), pdf-lib (PDF creation), and the browser's built-in Web APIs.
